Tailored workshop Saturday 14th March 2020

A Full Day Workshop with Dr Rachel Gillibrand and Dr Fiona Marfleet Saturday 14th March 2020. This CPD will introduce you to working with young people and adults with weight and eating concerns. We will look at some of the common misconceptions about weight and eating issues and look at the current picture in the UK, considering some of the pathways people have travelled before coming to see us. We will consider the male and female perspective on weight and eating and discuss these as considerations to our working practice.

This workshop aims to provide a broad understanding of this area and will look at how to have an effective conversation on the topics of weight and wellbeing, understanding how stigma, family culture and culture in general play a role. We will introduce you to the current guidance on treatments/approaches, what treatments are on offer nationally and what is currently best practice in the field. Taking a solution-focused approach to this work, we will gain a greater understanding of the latest evidence from health psychology in working with weight and eating concerns, how to adapt this for the solution-focused approach and discover how to work more effectively with these clients in a therapeutic context. This CPD will provide you with the evidence base to understanding weight and eating concerns, useful hints and tips for providing an effective therapeutic environment and an engaging and supporting environment to put your new knowledge into practice. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and to create your own best-practice therapeutic session guide.

This is a tailored workshop for a maximum of 10 people in a comfortable and friendly environment running from 10:00am - 4:30pm.

The workshop costs £80.00.
