A Full Day Workshop By Dr Rachel Gillibrand

This workshop will introduce you to working with children and teenagers through the lens of child psychologists Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, John Bowlby, David Elkind and others. We will look at various aspects of child development including how their thinking develops; how drawing can provide us with an insight into the child’s mind; why teenagers take risks; and why young people develop low self-esteem and experience anxiety and low-mood. This is a tailored workshop for a maximum of 24 people in a comfortable and friendly environment running from 10:00am - 4:30pm. The workshop costs £80.00 and includes the following:

  • • All accompanying training notes
  • • Certificate of Attendance - this event counts as 7 Hours of CPD
  • • A delicious locally sourced buffet lunch
  • • Refreshments mid-morning and afternoon
  • • Free parking

This course is suitable for anyone who is working with children and teenagers and would like to enhance their tools and strategies. Taking a solution-focused approach to this work, we will gain a greater understanding of why children and teens see the world the way that they do and discover how to work more effectively with young people in a therapeutic context. This CPD will provide you with the evidence base to understanding children and teenagers, useful hints and tips for providing an effective therapeutic environment and a handy workbook of activities you can use that is authorised by the NSPCC for solution focused therapists. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and to create your own child and teen-friendly therapeutic session guide.
