What is Reflexology?

The origins of Reflexology date back to around 2330 BC, being practised by the early Indian, Chinese and Egyptian people. It is a precisely defined form of treatment based on the principle that the anatomy of the body is reflected in miniature on reflex zones/points on the feet and hands. By working on these reflexes using specific techniques of holds and pressures, blockages in the energy pathways are cleared, inducing relaxation and balance. Reflexology can be used to help restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium. It can help with relaxation, improving mood, aiding sleep, relieving tension and providing a sense of wellbeing. Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions by treating the whole person and not just the symptoms.

I am a Reflexologist and Reiki therapist who is also currently on a journey studying Shiatsu. I have been studying and working with a variety of energy healing systems for many years. My first encounter with Reflexology was when I went for a treatment after seeing the amazing effect it had on a friend’s long-term health problems. I was surprised to find it uncovered some very clear and real reasons for the vague symptoms of discomfort I’d had for years.
