Jo Jones - Meditation

Meditation can be used anywhere, at any time; it offers a completely drug-free and natural way to improve our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health. Meditation helps develop a mind that is balanced, calm, and quiet and able to function more efficiently and reasonably. In addition, a person who meditates is offered a unique glimpse at the workings of their own mind. Eighty years ago, if you had told someone you were going for a run they would probably have asked you why and what you were running from. Nowadays, as humans are becoming increasingly stressed, screen-bound and sedentary, running and exercise in general is widely accepted as the 'norm' for keeping us physically and mentally healthy. Meditation is following this pattern of growth and popularity. With good reason. It works! Clinical research over the past few decades has now proven that meditation is not only an ancient spiritual practice but a powerful healing tool that, with regular practice, can significantly improve our body, mind and spirit health and connection. In today's busy, fast-paced and often stressful world, it's never been more relevant! The western world is fast beginning to view meditation as one of the necessities for 'dealing with life'. Whenever meditation is practiced there will be benefits on some level. If, for example, you were to meditate for at least 20 mins every day, there would be life changing benefits on many levels. These may include:

A sense of calmness and peacefulness

Greater clarity of thought

A significant reduction in daily stress and anxiety

A better sleeping pattern

Increased motivation

Assistance in the treatment of illness and disease within the body

A general feeling of overall better health

Assistance with management of weight

The best part of all of this is that meditation is so easy and straightforward to learn - There is a meditation practice that suits everyone, and on finding the particular way that is right for you, you'll come to really embrace the benefits on so many levels.
